Nickname: ATO

Alpha Tau Omega’s Gamma Upsilon chapter has become an active brotherhood of over 170 members since its founding in 1908. Of the 200+ Alpha Tau Omega chapters nationwide, Gamma Upsilon ranks second for most consecutive True Merit Awards received (11) and has received 29 in total. The True Merit Award is given to any chapter that achieves a level of chapter operation (philanthropy, community service, recruitment, academic performance, and campus involvement) that is worthy of the recognition. Our strength comes from the diversity of interests found within our chapter, and we support each brother in staying involved on campus – from the Rocketry Club to intramural hockey. Gamma Upsilon holds all of them to the same standard and treats brotherhood as something you practice rather than something you join.

Our signature event, Stickfest, supports the Play for Paige 33 Foundation in the fall. Our spring event, Cones and Bones, supports The Boys and Girls Club of Ames.

Housing Information
Style of living The second and third floors are the living quarters: each floor contains seven bedroom units and one shared bathroom. Each floor has one single, one double, three four-person rooms (four-man), one five-person room (five-man), and either the Vice President
Room Features Single: one bed and wardrobe; Double: two beds and two wardrobes; Four-man: two Doubles separated by a large middle room (living room); Five-man: a Double and a three-person bedroom, which are separated by the biggest middle room available
Dining Features Gamma Upsilon's chef provides lunch between 11:30am and 1:00pm Monday through Friday and dinner at 5:30pm Monday through Thursday. If a member is unavailable for meals, the chef prepares plates for absent members to be eaten at their own convenience.
Entertainment Features The front of the house includes a deck facing Lincoln Way, which is where many brothers spend their time playing bags while the weather allows. In the basement, our house features a large common area (chapter room) perfect for building Homecoming projects
Parking There is a parking lot with 33 spots in the back of the house, available to any in-house member.
