It all began at Colby College in Waterville, Maine in the fall of 1874. Since then Sigma Kappa has grown to more than 110 collegiate chapters in 35 states and more than 150 alumnae chapters and clubs. In total, Sigma Kappa has 129,000 members worldwide. That's a lot of great women sharing a sisterhood and living our motto: One Heart, One Way. The Alpha Epsilon Chapter of Sigma Kappa Sorority was chartered in 1921 at Iowa State University (then Iowa State College). The chapter house at 233 Gray Avenue was built in 1931 and later expanded in 1969.

Philanthropy We host the annual Sigma Kappa philanthropy, "Sigma Kappa Shake Shack" every spring, participate in the Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk, donate to the Maine Sea Coast Mission, and support Gerontology, as well. We also hold the Ultra Violet fundraiser event in the fall, the "Sigma Kappa Karnival", to support our foundation as a whole with lots of great food and fun games. In the fall and spring for Inherit the Earth, we participate in Adopt-A-Highway in Ames.
