Philanthropy | Kappa Delta Sorority is committed to giving back to the community and empowering women. Kappa Delta sponsors four national philanthropies, more than any other National Panhellenic Sorority. Our four philanthropy projects support Prevent Child Abuse America and Iowa, Girl Scouts of the USA, Children's Hospital in Richmond, Virginia and the American Academy for Orthopaedic Surgeons. Kappa Delta's all over the nation raise money for Prevent Child Abuse with their very own Shamrock Event. The Sigma Sigma Chapter of Kappa Delta, at Iowa State University, supports this effort with the "Kappa Delta Classic" golf tournament in the fall and "Kappa Delta Shakes" food philanthropy in the spring. At the 3rd Annual Kappa Delta Classic, Kappa Delta raised money and donated over $21,000 to Prevent Child Abuse America and Iowa. Kappa Deltas are very lucky to have partnered with the Girl Scouts of the USA. The Girl Scouts and Kappa Deltas have made special bonds since both organizations collaborated on a national level in 1998. The Sigma Sigma Chapter of Kappa Delta holds at least one event a month with the local Girl Scout troupes. In the Spring, one of the events we hold includes helping the young women sell Girl Scout Cookies. Some other events we've had in the past include career workshops, campus and Ames wide scavenger hunts, sledding, and camping - with s'mores! |
