Delta Zeta Sorority, founded nationally in 1902 at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, provides an enduring sisterhood based on a heritage of core values, academic excellence, leadership development, and service to others. Delta Zeta was locally founded at Iowa State University in 1931. Women in our chapter are widely involved around campus with ISU Dance and Cheerleading Teams, Hip Hop Club, Salt Company, Greek SAFE Liaisons, Dance Marathon, Greek Week Central, Homecoming Central, Iowa State Ambassadors, Cy Squad, Relay for Life, Cyclone Aides, Rho Lambda Honorary Society, Trend Magazine, any many more activities. "The purpose of this sorority shall be to unite its members in the bonds of sincere and lasting friendship, to stimulate one another in the pursuit of knowledge, to promote the moral and social culture of its members, and to develop plans for guidance and unity in action; objects worthy of the highest aim and purpose of associated effort. The purpose of this sorority shall be advanced through the National Convention, the National Council, and the college and alumnae chapters."

Nickname DZ
Philanthropy Our national philanthropy is assistance to the speech and hearing impaired and the Painted Turtle Camp. Based in California, this camp is for children with disabilities, including speech and hearing. We also donate time and money to the Starkey Hearing Foundation. With "So the World May Hear" as their mission, this organization donates hearing aides to children in third world countries. Our chapter is very dedicated to philanthropy. In the past year we've donated over 4,000 hours and over $4,500! Each year our chapter holds two philanthropic events. This fall semester we organized our second annual Delta Zeta Pie the Prez, where Executive Board members from different Greek chapters volunteered to let other members of the Iowa State community smash plates of whipped cream in their faces. In the spring, we hold an event called "DZ Dogs." It is an all-you-can-eat hot dog buffet held at our house. It is always a huge success and something we look forward to each year; this year we are also participating in Hike for Hearing, one of our national philanthropies. All members of our chapter will go to Ledges park in Ames, Iowa and hike for this event. Hike for hearing is Delta Zeta's newest program to raise $5,000,000 in five years for the Starkey Hearing Foundation. This program has a more personal aim and is challenging each individual member to start up their own Hike for Hearing page where they can independently raise money for our cause.
